Mumbai, March 6 (NationPress) England's fast bowler Brydon Carse has been sidelined for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to an injury. Wiaan Mulder, a pace-bowling all-rounder from South Africa, will take his place in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lineup. Mulder's contract with SRH is valued at Rs 75 lakh. He has participated in 11 T20 Internationals, in addition to 18 Tests and 25 One Day Internationals, amassing a total of 60 wickets and 970 runs in international matches.

Recently, Mulder was part of South Africa's Champions Trophy squad, which exited in the semifinals against New Zealand in Lahore on Wednesday. Throughout the tournament, he took six wickets, including an impressive 3-25 performance against England during a Group B match in Karachi.

The 27-year-old will make his debut in the IPL after previously playing for Durban's Super Giants in the SA 2025. He went unsold in the mega-auction held in Jeddah last year.

In contrast, Carse was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for his base price of Rs 1 crore during the auction but encountered a flare-up of a chronic left toe issue while competing in the white-ball series in India. Although the injury was briefly managed, it recurred during the Champions Trophy opener against Australia, where he gave away 69 runs in seven overs. As his condition deteriorated, he was ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.

The Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers finished as runners-up in the previous IPL season, succumbing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final match. Carse missed the Champions Trophy due to a left ankle injury following Australia's 3-1 series win against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Sydney. Cummins, who also missed the recent tour of Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy due to personal and injury reasons, confirmed his participation in the upcoming mega T20 event, which kicks off with the match between KKR and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens on March 22.
