New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) Left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat expressed that the disappointing IPL 2025 season for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has stemmed from the team’s inability to field bowlers capable of consistently taking wickets in every match.
The team’s aspirations for playoff qualification are nearly extinguished following a 38-run defeat against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday. "In my experience with the IPL, a successful team requires 3-4 bowlers who can deliver every match. This year, we have fallen short in that area," he commented.
“When two bowlers excel, the other three often struggle to find their rhythm. Just like partnerships in batting, bowling requires synergy; when one end lacks effectiveness, it puts undue pressure on the other, altering our strategies.”
“This inconsistency hasn’t worked in our favor, and we must own up to it. To win games, one must perform at their peak, and unfortunately, we haven’t done that. I can’t pinpoint a lack of practice, training, or strategy; it ultimately comes down to our execution on the field,” Unadkat stated after the match.
During the encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, aside from Unadkat’s impressive three-wicket haul, SRH’s bowling performance was lackluster as GT amassed 224/3. Unadkat also noted that the absence of 'complete performances' this season has severely impacted the team.
“We’ve had one or two standout games, like the one in Chennai, where we showcased great fielding. However, this match was a day where nothing fell into place. When our bowling is on point, our fielding falters, and vice versa.”
“Our batting started strong but we lost momentum midway. To secure victories against formidable teams like the Gujarat Titans, one must excel in all three facets of the game, and we failed in our fielding, which ultimately cost us the match,” he added.
Next, SRH is set to face Delhi Capitals (DC) at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday.
