Sumit Nagal Earns Direct Entry to Australian Open, Marking His Fifth Consecutive Grand Slam Appearance

Mumbai, Dec 6 (NationPress) Sumit Nagal, India's premier singles player, has successfully gained a direct entry into the Australian Open 2025, which will be held in Melbourne from January 6-26, signifying his second participation in this prestigious event.

Nagal, currently holding the 98th position in the ATP World Rankings, is among the final players to secure a direct spot in the 128-player draw.

This marks Nagal's fifth direct entry into a Grand Slam main draw and his eighth overall, as he competed in all four Grand Slam tournaments in 2024. His best performances in Grand Slam events include reaching the second round at both the Australian Open and the US Open this year.

The 27-year-old Nagal, who hails from Jaitpur, Haryana, will be making his third appearance at the Australian Open. The entry list was unveiled in Melbourne on Friday.

Nagal is celebrated as the 2015 Junior Wimbledon champion, becoming the sixth Indian to win a junior Grand Slam title. He achieved his highest singles ranking of 68 during the week commencing July 15, 2024.

At the Australian Open 2025, Nagal aims to enhance his previous best performance by advancing to the third round, contingent on a favorable draw.
