Chennai, March 22 (NationPress) Mumbai Indians' (MI) star batter Suryakumar Yadav is feeling positive about his form as he approaches the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season opener against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), despite facing challenges in his recent T20I series against England. The talented right-hander, who scored just 28 runs in five matches during the England series, humorously addressed his difficulties during the pre-match press conference, assuring fans that he anticipates a comeback soon.

Suryakumar, a crucial player in Mumbai Indians’ middle order, will take charge of the five-time champions for their season opener while captain Hardik Pandya is serving a one-match suspension.

Reflecting on his recent performances, the 34-year-old revealed that batting at No.4 in T20Is was a tactical choice to enable young Tilak Varma to shine at No.3. "Fortunately, in the IPL, my form has been solid," Suryakumar stated during the pre-match press briefing.

The explosive batter also mentioned Mumbai Indians’ adaptable batting strategy this season. He indicated that the team will modify their approach based on match scenarios, with players like Tilak and himself willing to switch positions as necessary. "I aim to bat consistently and create an impact whenever possible, and so does he. Thus, you might see players being adaptable this season. We all possess flexibility; I can bat at 3 or 5, and so can Tilak. This adaptability is a key strength of our team," he added.

When questioned about his current form, Suryakumar remained calm, underlining his focus on the process over immediate results. "I believe that the harder you work, the luckier you get. If runs are meant to come, they will come at the right time. I am fundamentally process-oriented; I thrive on hard work in the nets, and if runs are destined to follow, they will come eventually," Suryakumar expressed.

Suryakumar was one of Mumbai’s top performers in IPL 2024, amassing 345 runs in 11 matches. MI will clash with CSK at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
