Is Suryakumar Yadav Out of Runs or Just Out of Form?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Dharamsala, Dec 14 (NationPress) Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav acknowledged that he is on a quest to rediscover his scoring touch, yet he remains assured that he will soon return to his former glory and overcome this challenging period. In the match against South Africa at the HPCA Stadium on Sunday, Yadav scored only 12 runs just before the team successfully chased down the target with 25 balls remaining, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
"The reality is, I’ve been striking the ball well in practice. I’m doing everything within my control, and when the moment arises, the runs will certainly come. However, it’s true that I’m in search of runs, not out of form, but indeed out of runs," Yadav stated during the post-match presentation.
When questioned about the team’s revival after a previous 51-run loss in New Chandigarh, Yadav emphasized the significance of reverting to fundamentals in preparation for the upcoming match.
"This sport imparts invaluable lessons. The manner in which we bounce back in a series is crucial, and that’s precisely what we did — we aimed to return to basics, replicate our successful strategies from Cuttack, and the results were favorable. We gleaned valuable insights from our game in Chandigarh," he explained.
He praised the bowlers for their meticulous preparation and discipline in favorable bowling conditions, which led to a comfortable win in Dharamsala. "The bowlers convened, and we held a productive team meeting. We approached practice sessions with the intent to execute the same strategies we employed in Cuttack. We reverted to basics, avoiding unnecessary complications, as those fundamentals were vital at that juncture," Yadav added.
A win in Lucknow on Wednesday would secure the series for India. "We’ll savor the victory tonight. We’ll celebrate the win this evening, and once we arrive in Lucknow tomorrow, we’ll reflect on this game and discuss it," Yadav concluded.
