New Delhi, May 21 (NationPress) Former Indian cricketer Abhinav Mukund praised the young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his composed performance during a high-pressure situation in the Rajasthan Royals' victory against the Chennai Super Kings, asserting that the young player has a bright future ahead in Indian cricket.
The Rajasthan Royals concluded their IPL 2025 campaign on a triumphant note, achieving a convincing six-wicket victory over CSK at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. After electing to bowl first, RR's bowlers executed a disciplined strategy, limiting Chennai to a score of 187/8. In their chase, RR started strong with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring a brisk 36 runs off 19 balls. Although he was dismissed in the fourth over, Suryavanshi and captain Sanju Samson maintained the momentum with a remarkable 98-run partnership off just 59 balls.
Suryavanshi celebrated his first IPL fifty with a magnificent six in the 12th over, ultimately scoring an impressive 57 runs off 33 balls, featuring four sixes and four fours.
"His innings was a true testament to his maturity, as he had limited opportunities during the powerplay. There were doubts about his ability against spin, but today he demonstrated that even with just a few balls—three or four in the powerplay—he could accelerate afterward. Batting at that strike rate against bowlers like Noor and Jadeja was truly impressive," Mukund commented on JioHotstar.
"Each time he strikes the ball, it travels far. These aren’t just ordinary sixes—this kid is hitting 80–90 meter sixes at merely 14 years old. I genuinely believe he is one for the future of Indian cricket," Mukund added.
Earlier, Akash Madhwal (3-29) and Yudhvir Singh (3-47) spearheaded the bowling attack, with Tushar Deshpande (1-33) and Wanindu Hasaranga (1-27) also providing vital breakthroughs to keep CSK at 187/8.
Former Indian cricketer Varun Aaron underlined Madhwal’s effectiveness and questioned RR's delay in utilizing him this season, stating, "He effectively adapted to the conditions, executing excellent yorkers with his unique round-arm action. He bowled effectively towards the end of the innings, demonstrating his skill. I’m surprised they didn’t start with Akash Madhwal this season; he had a solid previous season and possesses exceptional death bowling skills."
The victory on Tuesday marked RR's eighth win in their last ten encounters against CSK, showcasing their depth as a team. Aaron commended RR for their composed approach in concluding the game against CSK, admitting, "I was slightly worried when Ashwin took two wickets in one over because RR's middle order has faltered throughout this tournament. Thankfully, this time it held up, with Hetmyer and Jurel guiding them to victory, bringing a sense of relief as they finished on a high note."
