Brisbane, Oct 1 (NationPress) India's youthful star Vaibhav Suryavanshi has set a remarkable milestone by achieving the fourth-fastest Youth Test century in cricket history, scoring a stunning 78-ball century for India U19 against Australia U19 during the Youth Test held at the Ian Healy Oval on Wednesday.
In an impressive feat, Suryavanshi has become the second player ever, following Brendon McCullum, to record two men's U19 Test centuries in under 100 balls. His previous record was a 58-ball century against Australia U-19 in Chennai last year, making it the second-fastest Youth Test century, just behind Moeen Ali of England.
The 14-year-old left-handed batsman was eventually dismissed by Hayden Schiller after scoring 113 runs off 86 balls, which included eight sixes and nine fours. Another standout performance in the match came from fellow Indian player Vedant Trivedi, who scored 140 runs from 192 balls.
Just last week, Suryavanshi made headlines by becoming the record-holder for the most career sixes in Youth ODI cricket while making a 70-run contribution from 68 balls for the U-19 Indian cricket team against Australia in Brisbane.
His innings featured five fours and six sixes, with his fourth maximum surpassing Unmukt Chand's previous record of 38 sixes in 21 matches. Remarkably, he achieved this feat in just 10 innings and has already surpassed it with a total of 41 sixes.
Earlier, his score of 143 off 78 balls in the fourth Youth ODI against England made him the youngest centurion in that format's history, reaching his century in just 52 balls, marking the fastest century ever recorded in U19 Men’s ODIs.
Suryavanshi also captured attention when he debuted in the IPL at the age of 14 years and 23 days against the Lucknow Super Giants. He later became the youngest centurion in IPL history with a remarkable 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans.
He concluded IPL 2025 with 252 runs across seven matches, boasting an impressive strike rate of 206.56, earning the title of Super Striker of the Season.
