Chennai, Jan 16 (NationPress) Tamil Thalaivas have officially parted ways with chief coach Udayakumar and strategy coach Dharmaraj Cheralathan following the conclusion of the eleventh season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).

The team has yet to reveal their new coaching staff. They are currently in the process of assembling a coaching team that aims to inject fresh energy and innovative tactics into the squad.

"This was an especially tough decision, as both Udayakumar and Dharmaraj Cheralathan have made significant contributions to the team. However, as we prepare for season 12, it has become clear that a new approach is essential to reach our desired outcomes.

"We are already devising new strategies and making internal adjustments to ensure the team is ready for the challenges that lie ahead. We remain hopeful about delivering an impressive performance in the upcoming season," stated Shushen Vashishth, CEO of Tamil Thalaivas.

Tamil Thalaivas entered the previous season with a solid defensive lineup but recognized the need for a raider capable of consistently scoring points, even with fewer players on the mat. After his remarkable performances in the last season, Sachin Tanwar was identified as the ideal candidate, boasting the highest success rate in scenarios with 2-3 or 4-5 players on the mat. Thalaivas aggressively pursued him during the auctions, confident in his ability to enhance their raiding capabilities.

Unfortunately, the season commenced with a significant setback when captain Sagar Rathee suffered an injury in the very first match. Thalaivas faced multiple close losses, often conceding crucial points at pivotal moments. Moreover, injuries severely affected the team, resulting in the highest injury count among all teams. This included key players being sidelined for numerous matches or even the entire season.

These challenges highlight the necessity of enhancing the fitness levels of kabaddi players and consistently working with them year-round to ensure they are physically equipped to perform at their peak.

Regarding the injuries, the Thalaivas CEO remarked, "On occasions, we had to depend on our 6th or 7th raider to step up, and to their credit, they gave their all for the team. Despite the challenges, the resilience displayed by the squad was admirable. Injuries may have impacted our campaign, but the fighting spirit and determination of every player remained steadfast throughout the season."
