Tim Paine Discusses Travis Head's Clashes with Ex-Coach Justin Langer

New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) Former captain Tim Paine has disclosed that star batter Travis Head and his previous Australian coach Justin Langer frequently held contrasting views on how to tackle batting with the red ball.

Paine is of the opinion that since being granted the liberty to play in his own style during Langer's latter coaching period and under the mentorship of McDonald and Cummins, Head has significantly excelled as a Test cricketer.

“I don't believe either of them would object to me stating this, but I think he and JL had a genuine difference of opinion,” Paine mentioned on SEN Breakfast.

“You have Test legends in commentary and a Test great (Langer) coaching alongside Graeme Hick, who had amassed 101 First Class hundreds, offering advice.

“They were exerting considerable effort for him to enhance his defense, which did not align with his desired approach. However, being a young Test player eager to make an impression and retain his spot, he was attempting to satisfy everyone.

“I believe this has been the primary transformation in his performance because he is remaining true to his preferred style of play.

“At times he will experience failures and lean patches, but he is going to be highly aggressive, play his shots, and strive to be a match-winner. We are currently witnessing his remarkable growth across all formats of the game.”

Head captivated audiences against India at his home ground, Adelaide Oval, scoring 140 off 141 balls and propelling Australia to a total of 337, which paved the way for a commanding 10-wicket victory in the pink-ball Test.
