U19 Women's Asia Cup: Sonam and Kamalini Lead India to a Dominant 9-Wicket Victory Against Pakistan

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 15 (NationPress) Sonam Yadav and G Kamalini propelled India to an impressive nine-wicket triumph over their long-time rivals Pakistan during their first Group A match of the inaugural U19 Women’s Asia Cup here on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first at Bayuemas Oval, a decision that proved detrimental as they could only muster 67/7 in 20 overs. Sonam Yadav excelled with the ball, achieving remarkable figures of 4-6 in her four overs.
For Pakistan, wicketkeeper-batter Komal Khan was the standout performer, scoring 24 runs with four boundaries, while no other batter, apart from Fatima Khan (11), could reach double digits.
India maintained excellent discipline in their bowling attack, claiming wickets consistently to keep Pakistan in check throughout the match.
While chasing a modest target of 68, India encountered an early setback when opener Gongadi Trisha was dismissed for a two-ball duck by Fatima Khan in the first over. Nevertheless, Kamalini and Sanika Chalke formed a match-winning partnership of 68 runs, leading the team to victory in just 7.5 overs.
Kamalini, who earned the title of Player of the Match, scored an impressive 44 not out off 29 balls, featuring three sixes and four fours, while Sanika contributed with an unbeaten 19 runs off 17 balls, including three fours, ensuring a strong start for India in the tournament.
In their next match, India will face Nepal on December 17, while Pakistan will compete against the same opponents on December 16.
