Lucknow, March 7 (NationPress) In an unprecedented move in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025, the UP Warriorz will trade their yellow and purple uniforms for the Rani Pink jerseys to advocate for the education of girls.
The UP Warriorz, in collaboration with Educate Girls, have committed to supporting girls’ education, as empowering a girl elevates families, communities, and the nation.
The team will showcase this unique jersey on March 8 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. In addition to the stylish Rani Pink jerseys, the players will wear ‘Her Education, Our Promise’ armbands, reflecting the UP Warriorz’s steadfast dedication to girls’ education.
The Rani Pink jersey embodies strength, courage, and resilience, drawing inspiration from Rani Lakshmi Bai, whose legendary achievements continue to motivate generations of women across the state and country. The color pink represents power and royalty, symbolizing strength rather than weakness. This is mirrored in the UP Warriorz’s logo, where Rani Lakshmi Bai is depicted in pink, epitomizing the true spirit of Warriorz, as stated by the franchise in a release on Friday.
Through their ongoing partnership, the UP Warriorz have already aided 4000 women and are committed to further enhancing their support for girls’ education. Educate Girls aims to impact 10 million learners by 2035 in their quest to empower every girl with the right to education.
The UP Warriorz also hosted 635 young girls from the Educate Girls program, along with Team Balika volunteers, who are actively working at the grassroots level for education, allowing them to witness live cricket during the Lucknow segment of the tournament.
Founded in 2007, Educate Girls is a nonprofit focused on rallying communities to promote girls’ education in India's rural and less developed educational areas. To date, they have enrolled 1.8 million out-of-school girls and supported 2.2 million children through their learning initiatives.
During the UP Warriorz’s inaugural visit to their home city, the players contributed to the unveiling of two murals celebrating cricket and the inspiring narratives of women shattering glass ceilings. The UP Warriorz have also initiated a well-crafted campaign called Papa ki Warriorz, which highlights stories of fathers supporting their daughters as they strive to reach the top.
