New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, honored Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old cricketing talent, for his remarkable contributions to the sport.

The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar was awarded to children for outstanding accomplishments in areas such as Bravery, Social Service, Environment, Sports, Art & Culture, and Science & Technology during a ceremony held in the national capital.

This prestigious award is the highest civilian recognition in India for individuals between the ages of five and 18, aimed at celebrating exceptional achievements across various fields including art, innovation, science, social service, sports, and acts of bravery.

During the event, the President expressed her congratulations to all awardees, stating, "Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made a significant mark in the fiercely competitive realm of cricket and set numerous records."

The young cricketer is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day. After the ceremony, he will reunite with the India Under-19 team to prepare for the Under-19 World Cup, which kicks off on January 15.

The BCCI also extended their congratulations to the talented player. They tweeted, "Kudos to our dynamic young batter, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, for being awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar by the esteemed President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmuji."

Just earlier this week, Suryavanshi scored an impressive 190 runs off 84 deliveries against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, earning the title of the youngest centurion in List A history. His performance also shattered AB de Villiers’ record for the fastest 150 in List A cricket, and he hit 15 sixes during the innings, which is the highest by any Indian in the 50-over format.

This month, he achieved his maiden T20 century for Bihar against Maharashtra in the Elite Group B Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 match at Eden Gardens, scoring an unbeaten 108 off 61 balls, making him the youngest player to score a century in this trophy at just 14 years and 250 days.

In another remarkable feat, he scored 171 runs off 95 balls against the UAE, setting the record for the highest score by an Indian in U19 Asia Cup history.

In November, the explosive left-handed batsman scored a century against the Australia U19 team during a Youth Test match in Brisbane. His latest jaw-dropping innings came in the Rising Stars Asia Cup, where he scored 144 off just 42 balls against UAE, hitting 11 fours and 15 sixes.

His phenomenal 32-ball century made him the youngest player to score a century for any national representative side at the senior level, breaking a 20-year-old record.

Recently, Suryavanshi became the most-searched Indian on Google and was ranked sixth globally. Last month, Instagram highlighted his journey on its official page, making him only the second Indian cricketer after Virat Kohli to receive such recognition.

This talented teenager from Bihar enjoyed a stellar IPL debut season with the Rajasthan Royals, making history as the youngest player to participate in the tournament at just 14 years and 23 days, debuting against the Lucknow Super Giants.

He then amazed fans by becoming the youngest centurion in IPL history just nine days later, smashing a 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans, which is the fastest IPL century by an Indian and the second-fastest overall, only behind Chris Gayle.
