Former India fast bowler Varun Aaron has been appointed bowling coach of Glasgow Cosmic ahead of the inaugural season of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), the franchise confirmed on 21 June. The appointment adds experienced cricketing pedigree to a coaching setup that is rapidly taking shape around one of the tournament's most high-profile squads.

A Star-Studded Squad to Lead

Glasgow Cosmic have assembled a formidable roster featuring international names such as Finn Allen, Liam Livingstone, Kamindu Mendis, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Moises Henriques, Ali Khan, Richie Berrington, and Scotland home favourite George Munsey. Aaron's role will be to harness and direct that collective firepower with precision.

Aaron, who represented India across formats and built a strong record in domestic cricket and the IPL, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity. 'I'm really looking forward to this opportunity with Glasgow Cosmic. The conversations I had with Matthew Hayden, Vipul Agrawal, Tansha Batra and Rashid Khan gave me a clear picture of what they're trying to build here. There's genuine ambition behind the project and that was something I wanted to be a part of,' he said.

He added that the quality of the playing group made the coaching assignment particularly appealing. 'Players like Finn Allen, Liam Livingstone, Kamindu Mendis, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Moises Henriques, Ali Khan, Richie Berrington and George Munsey have all proven themselves at the highest level. As a coach, it's exciting to work with a group like that and help them get the best out of themselves,' Aaron said.

Vipul Agrawal, chairman of Mugafi Group, said Aaron's cricketing intellect and professional reputation made him a natural fit. 'Varun has always been respected for his work ethic and cricketing knowledge. We believe he will bring a lot of value to the dressing room and be a great mentor for our players,' Agrawal said.

Tansha Batra, co-owner of Glasgow Cosmic, welcomed Aaron to the franchise family, noting that his background as a fast bowler would be directly relevant during the tournament.
