The Odisha T20 League – CM Trophy is set to get underway on 20 September 2026 at the historic Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, with six franchises and 17 matches lined up over ten days. Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty has described the tournament as a critical platform for nurturing young cricketing talent in the state.

Six Teams, One Trophy

The competing franchises are Bhubaneswar Tigers, Puri Titans, Keonjhar Miners, Rourkela Superstars, Sambalpur Warriors, and Kataka Panthers. The league runs until 29 September, with all matches hosted at the Barabati Stadium, a venue that has previously staged international fixtures.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Pankaj Lochan Mohanty said the excitement around the league was 'growing with every passing day.' He emphasised the dual purpose of the event — delivering competitive action while simultaneously building a talent pipeline. 'We aim to continue strengthening the cricketing structure in Odisha and create more opportunities for young players,' Mohanty said. 'We have seen several talented cricketers emerge from the state, and a tournament like this can give them the exposure and confidence to take the next step in their careers.'

OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera echoed that sentiment, framing the league as a structured pathway rather than merely an entertainment product. 'Competitive matches give young players the chance to test themselves in pressure situations, learn from experienced players and understand what it takes to perform at a higher level,' Behera said.

Women's Match on Final Day

A notable addition to this edition is a women's exhibition match scheduled for the final day, 29 September. The fixture is designed to give women cricketers visibility on a prominent stage and expand the audience beyond the men's game — a step that aligns with the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) broader push to grow women's cricket at the domestic level.
