London, Feb 28 (NationPress) West Ham United achieved consecutive Premier League victories with a 2-0 triumph over Leicester City, who are currently struggling, at the London Stadium on Friday (lST).

This victory allowed West Ham to move ahead of Everton into 15th place, sharing points with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. On the other hand, Leicester finds themselves in 19th place, having lost their last four league matches and sitting five points adrift of safety.

It was a special day for Tomas Soucek, who marked his birthday by netting his 38th goal for the Club, putting the Irons in front after 21 minutes at the London Stadium. Remarkably, 28 of these goals have come in wins, while eight were in draws and only two in defeats.

This goal also marked the 16th time the Czech international has scored the decisive goal since joining the club over five years ago. As he celebrates turning 30, Soucek continues to be a vital asset for the Hammers.

Captain Jarrod Bowen played a crucial role in securing the second goal just two minutes before the half-time break, forcing Jannik Vestergaard to score an own goal due to his relentless effort.

Graham Potter’s team maintained their dominance against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Foxes, and when referee Anthony Taylor signaled the end of the match, they celebrated their first back-to-back wins and clean sheets of the season.

"It's a great feeling. The turnaround from the Arsenal match was swift. Achieving two wins in five days is significant for us. Two clean sheets and six points make me very happy," Potter expressed.

Leicester has suffered 11 defeats in their last 12 Premier League fixtures (W1), and in his 14 matches at the helm, Van Nistelrooy has garnered only seven points, which is three less than the previous Foxes manager Steve Cooper managed this season (10 in 12 matches).

“The goals we concede are often straightforward. It reflects our performance in the first half. The difference between our first and second halves was evident in how we pressured the opposition, played with urgency after winning duels; in the first half, we were far too passive. We need to apply the right pressure on our opponents,” Leicester coach Nistelrooy commented.
