Newcastle, Sep 12 (NationPress) Eddie Howe has announced that new signings Yoane Wissa and Jacob Ramsey will not participate in Newcastle United's Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers this Saturday.

United is set to return to Premier League action after the international break, aiming for their first league victory of the 2025/26 season against a Wolves team that has lost its first three league matches.

Howe indicated that Wissa will not be able to make his debut with the Magpies due to a knee injury he sustained while playing for his national team earlier this week.

"Unfortunately, he won't be available for this match. I saw him for the first time yesterday, and he's still feeling the repercussions of the [knee] injury he picked up just before coming off during international duty. We will have to monitor his condition. He is a proven Premier League goalscorer, which is increasingly rare to find. He possesses excellent qualities and has had a remarkable career, consistently finding the net."

"He has been a tough opponent for us in the past, and I admire his journey to reach this point, as it has not been easy. He has made significant strides in his career, and I hope he can adapt and succeed with us as well," Howe stated during his pre-match press conference.

Meanwhile, Ramsey faces several weeks on the sidelines following an ankle injury he incurred during his first start for Newcastle in last month's goalless draw against Leeds United.

"Jacob is another injury issue, and he will miss this match. He was affected by a tackle in the Leeds game, his ankle swelled at halftime, forcing him to leave the pitch. Regrettably, I believe he will be out until the next international break, which is a considerable setback," Howe explained.

On the positive side, Nick Woltemade could make his debut for United after being signed from VfB Stuttgart for a club-record fee. "He is fit for the Wolves match. He has trained well, and we are very pleased with his initial days here. This is a significant transition for him, and he has a tremendous character. He has integrated into our training seamlessly and has demonstrated his skills. We are delighted with how he has adjusted," Howe remarked.

Point of View

The injuries to Wissa and Ramsey present challenges for Newcastle United as they navigate the early part of the Premier League season. The loss of two key players could hinder their performance against Wolverhampton, who are also struggling. Coach Eddie Howe now faces the task of adjusting his tactics to ensure the team remains competitive.
