Dubai, March 18 (NationPress) A number of players from Sri Lanka and New Zealand have seen significant advancements in the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings, following their performances in the recently finished series between the teams.

Although rain prevented a result in the series finale in Dunedin on Tuesday, actions in the previous matches allowed many players to make substantial gains in the updated rankings.

Veteran Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu was named Player of the Series for her 87 runs, and the 35-year-old ascended one spot to reach sixth place in the current T20I batter rankings, which are led by Australia’s Beth Mooney.

Among the other Sri Lankan batters, Nilakshika de Silva experienced a significant rise, moving up three positions to 52nd, after her contributions in the initial matches of the series. On the New Zealand side, Brooke Halliday stood out with her bat, soaring 17 places to 67th, thanks to her remarkable unbeaten score of 46 in the second T20I held in Christchurch.

While England’s Sophie Ecclestone still holds the top spot in the T20I bowling rankings, bowlers from Sri Lanka have made considerable progress. Inoshi Priyadharshani moved up two spots to 19th, Sugandika Kumari surged seven places to 22nd, and Kavisha Dilhari rose three spots to 34th, all reflecting their contributions during the series.

Furthermore, seasoned seamer Achini Kulasuriya improved by four positions to 56th after her economical spell of 1/11 in Christchurch. For New Zealand, pacer Jess Kerr also climbed three spots to 42nd in the bowling rankings.

West Indies star Hayley Matthews continues to be the top-ranked all-rounder in T20I cricket, maintaining her supremacy in the format. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s experienced batter Suzie Bates advanced 13 places to 35th, further establishing her position among the leading all-rounders in the game.
