Greater Noida, Nov 20 (NationPress) The Indian women's boxing team displayed remarkable determination, securing four gold medals at the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 held at the Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex on Thursday.
The gold medal tally for India commenced with Minakshi Hooda, who triumphed over Fozilova Farzona with a decisive 5-0 victory in the women's 48 kg final.
"I am incredibly delighted. My heartfelt thanks to my district coach, Vijay Hooda, for his unwavering support. I also extend my gratitude to ITBP, SAI, OGQ, and BFI for shaping my journey. The cheering crowd truly uplifted my spirits and played a crucial role in my gold medal win," Minakshi expressed to the press following her match.
"Despite my initial nerves before the final, the overwhelming presence of home supporters inspired me to secure a 5-0 victory. This has been my best year, and I aim to continue my hard work to bring more pride to my country," she added.
Preeti contributed another gold for India by defeating Italy's Sirine Charaabi 5-0 in the women's 54kg final. Arundhati Choudhary followed suit, completing India’s hat-trick of golds by outclassing Zokirova Aziza from Uzbekistan 5-0 in the women's 70 kg final.
Nupur clinched the fourth gold of the day with her 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan's Sotimboeva Oltinoy in the 80+kg final.
In a contrasting outcome, Jadumani faced defeat in her final bout against Asilbek Jalilov of Uzbekistan in the women's 50kg final, settling for a silver medal as India’s golden run came to an end.
