Guwahati, Oct 11 (NationPress) In a display of remarkable composure, China triumphed over defending champions Indonesia with a decisive score of 2-0 in the finals of the BWF World Junior Championships 2025 held on Saturday, capturing the Suhandinata Cup for the 15th time.
Entering the final, the Chinese team showcased a lineup featuring three current individual gold medallists and two silver medallists from the Asian Junior Championships. Meanwhile, Indonesia required exceptional performances from their players to defend the title they claimed the previous year.
However, the Chinese onslaught proved unstoppable as they outperformed the Indonesians with scores of 45-30 and 45-44, concluding the match in just over two hours. India and Japan secured the bronze medals as the losing semi-finalists.
The first set was easily claimed by China, with their duo, the Asian junior girls' doubles champions Cao Zi Han and Chen Fan Shu Tian, achieving a pivotal 9-8 victory over Riska Anggraini and Rinjani Nastine in the initial match. China continued to dominate, winning every following match to take the set.
The second set was filled with twists as Riska and Rinjani surged to a 9-5 lead. Nonetheless, Chen Jun Ting and Cao rallied from an 8-13 deficit, winning 10 out of the next 11 points to regain control at 18-14.
Asian Junior Championship silver medallist Liu Si Ya faced a tough challenge from Thalita Wiryawan but managed to keep China ahead with a score of 27-24.
World Junior No. 1 Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah then leveled the match at 27-27, leading to a thrilling exchange until the scores were tied at 31-31. Yet, Liu Yang Ming Yu skillfully maintained his rallies, pushing his opponent into errors and providing the boys' doubles pairing with a four-point lead in the final match.
The concluding match tested the nerves of all four players as Indonesia's Alexius Subagio and Raihan Pramono narrowed the gap to 40-39 before earning a set point at 44-43.
Despite the tension, Chen Jun Ting and Liu Jun Rong held their composure, closing out the match by forcing another error from their Indonesian rivals.
A rest day will follow for the BWF World Junior Championships 2025 on Sunday, with the individual championships for the Eye Level Cups set to commence on Monday.
