In a related development, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has alleged that a “special circle” within Pakistan has initiated efforts to destabilize the region amidst rising tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, local media sources indicated on Friday.
During a press briefing in Kandahar, Mujahid called on neighboring nations to halt the “troublemakers.” He claimed that Afghanistan's air forces had effectively targeted key military facilities in Pakistan, according to Ariana News.
When queried about the Taliban's position on regional calls for peace, Mujahid expressed that Afghanistan is committed to a peaceful resolution of conflicts and has participated in multiple negotiation rounds with Pakistan, although he criticized Islamabad for its lack of willingness to resolve issues through dialogue.
Mujahid emphasized that Pakistan often attempts to create justifications for conflict and links its internal challenges to Afghanistan. He also pointed out that Pakistani aircraft continue to operate within Afghanistan's airspace.
On Thursday night, Pakistan conducted airstrikes in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia provinces.
Mujahid reported that Pakistani forces executed bombings across various locations in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar, resulting in the deaths of 13 Afghan soldiers and injuries to 22 others during the confrontations, as per Ariana News.
Earlier that day, the Afghan Air Force retaliated with airstrikes against Pakistani military objectives in Islamabad, Nowshera, Jamrud, and Abbottabad, as stated by Taliban Deputy Spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat.
Fitrat noted that these operations were in response to the air attacks launched by Pakistani military forces in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia the previous night.
He detailed that the Air Force of the Ministry of National Defence successfully targeted military installations near Faizabad city in Islamabad, alongside other significant military sites in Nowshera, Jamrud, and Abbottabad around 11:00 a.m.
According to Fitrat, these airstrikes were executed in retaliation for the Pakistani military's actions in Afghanistan.
The Afghan Ministry of National Defence announced that its forces conducted retaliatory strikes along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, reportedly killing at least 55 Pakistani soldiers and seizing two bases along with 19 posts.
Moreover, the report states that eight Afghan soldiers were killed, and 11 others were wounded during the operations.
