Greater Noida Police on Saturday, 12 June arrested two Nigerian nationals from the Ecotech-1 area after recovering 39.27 grams of banned narcotics — including crystal MDMA and methamphetamine-class drugs — with an estimated street value of ₹3 to ₹4 lakh. The operation, conducted near a cremation ground during a special checking drive, is being described by officials as a significant blow to an organised drug supply network operating across the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Accused and What Was Seized

The two arrested individuals were identified as Anthony Chinwuba (alias David) and Amos Musa (alias Lucky), both originally from Nigeria and residing in the Greater Noida area at the time of their arrest. Police recovered 39.27 grams of crystal MDMA/methamphetamine, an electronic weighing scale, and a scooter allegedly used to transport the contraband.

How the Network Operated

According to officials, the two accused had established a dedicated supply chain for banned substances, including cannabis (locally referred to as 'Ganja'), targeting housing societies and college students in the region. Investigators say the drugs were reportedly sourced from Delhi through illegal channels and delivered to customers based on orders placed via WhatsApp. The accused are understood to have been active in the NCR for a considerable period before their arrest.

How Police Closed In

The operation was triggered by local intelligence and confidential tip-offs. A police team conducting a special checking drive near the cremation ground in Ecotech-1 on 12 June flagged the two individuals on the basis of suspicious behaviour, stopped them, and conducted a search — leading to the seizure of the contraband.

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation

A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and relevant provisions applicable to foreign nationals. Officials confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to map the full extent of the accused's criminal network, trace the origin of the seized narcotics, and identify all areas where the drugs were being supplied. Authorities are also working to determine whether additional individuals are part of the supply chain.

This arrest comes amid a broader push by NCR police forces to dismantle drug networks that increasingly exploit digital platforms for order and delivery logistics — a pattern that has emerged with growing frequency in urban residential clusters across Uttar Pradesh.
