Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Jan 9 (NationPress) The Hyderabad-Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has apprehended two Nigerian nationals involved in drug trafficking, confiscating 150 grams of MDMA from one of the suspects, according to a police official's statement on Friday.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the H-NEW team, along with the Toli Chowki police, executed a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of the two Nigerians.
The individuals have been named as Chidi Ezeh, also known as Nageshwaran, aged 42, and Obasi James Victor, both residing in New Delhi.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force/HNEW, Vaibhav Gaikwad, confirmed that the seized MDMA belonged to Chidi Ezeh.
Chidi Ezeh entered India via IGI Airport, New Delhi on March 18, 2014, on a medical attendant visa that expired on May 20 of the same year. His passport and visa have since lapsed.
Previously, he was implicated in an NDPS case in Hyderabad in 2019, where he was arrested for possessing 130 grams of Cocaine and 32 grams of MDMA by officials at the Golconda Prohibition & Excise Station. After serving his sentence, he relocated to New Delhi, where he fraudulently obtained Indian identity documents, such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, and driving license under the alias Nageshwaran.
Investigations have uncovered that he sourced cocaine and MDMA from a Nigerian associate named Chris, who is currently based in Delhi, distributing the drugs to clients in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and New Delhi.
Chidi Ezeh is implicated in three cases, with two occurring in Hyderabad.
A local drug dealer in Hyderabad, who received shipments from Chidi Ezeh, remains at large. On occasions, both Chidi Ezeh and Obasi James would supply drugs to this dealer.
Authorities indicated that Obasi James Victor entered India on a tourist visa, arriving at CSI Airport, Mumbai, on December 31, 2011. He is married and currently lives in Delhi with his family. He has been residing in the same building as Chidi Ezeh and has been involved in the drug trafficking operations.
Since there are no pending charges against Obasi James, H-NEW has initiated the process for his deportation back to Nigeria, in collaboration with the FRRO and the Nigerian Embassy.
