Srinagar, July 4 (NationPress) – The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, announced on Friday that more than 20,000 devotees have made their way to experience the sacred sight of Baba Amarnath.
Speaking to reporters in Balta, Ganderbal, the LG expressed that "the atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir is filled with enthusiasm and joy" as the Amarnath Yatra continues.
He noted, "The environment in Jammu and Kashmir is vibrant. Individuals from various regions across the country are arriving, and the local populace is welcoming them with open arms," he added.
Additionally, he emphasized that the government, along with the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, has made comprehensive arrangements to assist the pilgrims. "The Jammu and Kashmir Government, local authorities, and the Shrine Board have significantly enhanced tourism services," he stated.
Moreover, he drew attention to the efforts by ONGC, which has established new lodging facilities dedicated to the devotees of Baba Amarnath.
Regarding early arrivals for the Amarnath Yatra, the LG remarked: "Some devotees who registered for later dates are arriving ahead of schedule. I urge that no one be denied entry. Those registered for July 4 or 5 will be prioritized and accommodated within 2-3 days."
In addition, ONGC has constructed a permanent disaster management complex at Baltal to assist pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, it is developing these complexes at four strategic locations – Baltal, Nunwan, Bijbehara, and Sidhra in Jammu and Kashmir.
This sacred yatra is occurring in the shadow of a tragic terror attack in Pehalgam on April 22, where 26 innocent tourists were killed by a Pakistan-backed terrorist group.
Given the current security situation, the Kashmir police have released a security advisory. In a post on X, the Kashmir Zone Police stated: "#Advisory for Yatris of Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025. All pilgrims participating in Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 are recommended to travel only in designated convoys originating from Bhagwati Nagar, Baltal, and Nunwan Base Camps."
