New Delhi, June 26 (NationPress) A total of 275 individuals -- 272 Indian citizens and three Nepalese -- arrived safely in New Delhi from Mashhad, Iran, on Thursday, as part of the Indian government's ongoing Operation Sindhu.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed this arrival, marking a total of 3,426 citizens repatriated from Iran amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

Emotions ran high as relieved evacuees set foot on Indian soil.

One Indian national shared his experience with IANS, stating, "We were in Mashhad. My family of five and I are incredibly grateful to the Indian Embassy and the Government of India for ensuring our safe return. They did not abandon us in a foreign land. No other nation has done as much for its citizens."

He further recalled how embassy staff patiently awaited and searched for missing passengers prior to departure.

"A few individuals went missing, so the embassy officials even delayed their departure by two hours to locate them. There is truly no one like our Indian government," he added.

Another evacuee expressed gratitude, saying, "I wholeheartedly thank the Indian government and the Embassy of India. Since the conflict began in Tehran, they have maintained contact with every Indian, advising us on how to navigate the situation, providing updates on conditions, and outlining evacuation and repatriation plans."

"I stand here filled with gratitude and respect for the entire Indian Embassy and the Government of India who have brought us back home. I am eternally thankful and will always cherish this support," said another returnee, reflecting the widespread appreciation among those evacuated.

"We are deeply thankful for their attentive care towards their fellow citizens, for prioritizing the welfare of their people abroad. They recognized that we were in distress and stood by us," another evacuee shared with IANS.

Just a day prior, on Wednesday, another flight carrying 296 Indians and four Nepalese nationals also landed in India from Mashhad.

With ongoing tensions in the region, Operation Sindhu, now nearing its conclusion in Iran, serves as a vital lifeline for countless stranded citizens.
