Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 30 (NationPress) Proposals for books by 43 young authors under the age of 30 have been chosen through a nationwide competition, available in 22 official Indian languages, as part of the Prime Minister’s Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors (PM-YUVA 3.0), as stated by an official on Tuesday.
In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, this initiative is designed to inspire young writers to engage in nation-building through their literary contributions and innovative ideas.
This scheme is being executed by the National Book Trust, India, under the Ministry of Education, and has been publicized on the NBT-India website, according to a statement.
In this round, proposals from 43 young authors under 30 years old were selected via an All-India contest, spanning 22 official Indian languages along with English, including Assamese, Bangla, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Maithili, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
This extensive language representation enhances the scheme’s goal of fostering inclusive literary growth throughout India. Among the 43 selected authors, 19 are women and 24 are men, as indicated in the statement.
The selected proposals will be transformed into books during a six-month mentorship with distinguished scholars. Furthermore, each chosen author will receive a scholarship of Rs 50,000 per month and a lifelong royalty of 10 percent on their published book.
The themes for PM-YUVA 3.0 include: the Contribution of Indian Diaspora in Nation Building, the Indian Knowledge System, and Makers of Modern India (1950–2025).
The chosen manuscripts will focus on non-fiction works that portray India’s history, culture, science, philosophy, governance, social reform, and its global interactions.
A National Camp for the selected authors will take place during the upcoming New Delhi World Book Fair (January 10-18, 2026).
The first set of books under PM-YUVA 3.0 is slated for publication next year, aimed at cultivating a new generation of writers to represent Indian literature and thought both domestically and internationally.
