New Delhi, Feb 23 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has convened a legislature party meeting on Sunday to establish the agenda for the forthcoming Assembly session.
The gathering is scheduled to take place at the AAP headquarters in the national capital at approximately 1 p.m. During this meeting, a decision may also be made regarding the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly.
On Saturday, AAP criticized Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, claiming she lacks knowledge about the officials' departments and questioning her capability to govern.
The AAP highlighted the Chief Minister's post on X, revealing that she conducted a meeting with Public Works Department officials to address various concerns. The AAP remarked that CM Gupta mistakenly referred to Delhi Jal Board employees as PWD officials, a post she has since deleted.
AAP leader Atishi sent a letter to CM Rekha Gupta on Saturday, stating, “The inaugural Cabinet meeting of the BJP government occurred on February 20, yet the Rs 2,500 per month scheme for women was not approved. The mothers and sisters of Delhi had faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's promise and now feel deceived.”
“The AAP legislature party wishes to meet you to discuss this matter,” Atishi's letter emphasized.
Arvinder Singh Lovely, the Gandhi Nagar legislator, was appointed as the pro-tem Speaker of the Delhi Assembly.
The initial session of the new 70-member Assembly is set for February 24 to elect the Speaker, with the CAG reports expected to be presented to the House on February 25.
Vijender Gupta, a three-time legislator and councillor, designated by the BJP to be the next Speaker, indicated that the proposal for a three-day legislative session—February 24, 25, and 27—was approved by the Delhi Cabinet in its first meeting on Thursday.
He added that since the CAG reports, including one highlighting lapses in the now-repealed excise policy, have already reached the office of the outgoing Assembly Speaker, they will be prioritized in the new House. These reports are anticipated to reveal alleged financial mismanagement by previous AAP administrations led by Arvind Kejriwal.
