Mumbai, Jan 24 (NationPress) Actress Aarvika Gupta, who is currently portraying Champa in the newly launched web series “Chidiya Udd”, where she plays a sex worker, mentioned that filming took place in authentic Kamathipura settings, which enabled her to connect deeply with her character's emotions.

Elaborating on her role, Aarvika shared: “I auditioned for this series quite some time ago through a casting agency. After my audition, I didn’t hear back and eventually forgot about it. Then one day, I received a call from Omkar Ji of Baweja Studios, asking if I was ready to take on the character I had auditioned for.”

“I was overjoyed because the role was extremely demanding, portraying an HIV-positive, drug-dependent prostitute facing imminent death, grappling with numerous emotions. As an actor, you constantly seek such challenges to showcase your skills and deliver something powerful to the audience. So, I immediately accepted.”

Discussing her preparation for the role, she remarked: “Honestly, I was unsure how to prepare for such a complex character. However, once I altered my appearance with makeup, embraced the character through costumes, and filmed in the actual Kamathipura locations, I instinctively began to resonate with Champa’s feelings. Filming in Kamathipura was an unforgettable experience for me.”

“Most scenes were shot in the authentic surroundings of Kamathipura, where we observed the realities of prostitutes. We even witnessed individuals living that life while we were filming. I remained present and delivered an authentic performance.”

The actress expressed that if she had prepared beforehand, it wouldn’t have felt as genuine.

“What I experienced on set and in my appearance was authentic. Director Ravi Jadhav was a guiding light for me throughout the filming process.”

She added: “To convincingly portray a frail and HIV-positive individual, I refrained from eating or drinking water on set until we wrapped up. My throat would remain parched, and I genuinely felt weak and restless, which showed on my face.”

She also mentioned that she limited her laughter to maintain her immersion in the character.

“Nonetheless, I genuinely enjoyed the filming and learned that when you are passionate about delivering quality work, you can set everything aside and concentrate solely on perfecting your role.”

Was she apprehensive about not engaging in bold scenes in Chidiya Udd? She responded, “I didn’t have any bold scenes because my character was HIV-positive and in critical condition. In fact, after receiving the brief, I never considered bold scenes. As an actor, it’s crucial to understand your limits. With the diverse content being produced today, it’s your choice how far you want to go. I ensure to select roles and content that my parents can proudly view.”
