The Hague, Jan 22 (NationPress) A delegation from the Baloch National Movement (BNM) convened with several members of the Netherlands Parliament, aiming to highlight what they termed as ongoing serious and systematic human rights abuses perpetrated by Pakistani forces in Balochistan.

During this assembly, the delegation engaged in extensive discussions regarding the human rights infringements occurring in Balochistan, as well as Pakistan’s favorable trade status under the Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+).

The representatives briefed the Dutch Parliament members on the current conditions in the province and presented a formal petition.

Leading the BNM delegation was Muheem Abdul Raheem Baloch, President of the organization’s Netherlands Chapter, accompanied by several other members.

The BNM asserted that operations by the Pakistani military, including house bombings, drone strikes, and enforced disappearances, have become prevalent in Balochistan.

They claimed that both men and women are victims of enforced disappearances, while those who dare to speak out against these violations are also targeted.

In a related report, Paank, the Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department, disclosed that another Baloch civilian, Abdul Mutalib, a resident of Quetta, was extrajudicially killed by Pakistani forces.

On January 19, authorities claimed that Abdul had died in an “encounter” in the Dasht tehsil of Mastung district. However, the circumstances of his death and the condition of his body suggest a staged extrajudicial killing following prolonged detention and torture. His body was returned to his family on January 20, 2026,” stated Paank.

The rights organization further reported that Abdul was forcibly taken from his home on July 11, 2025, by armed personnel from Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), who were not in uniform and did not present a legal warrant. He remained in illegal custody for over six months.

“This case illustrates the ongoing trend of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. Such acts are serious violations of fundamental human rights, especially the right to life and due process, and they underscore the culture of impunity in the region,” emphasized Paank.

Additionally, the Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) condemned the enforced disappearance of a religious cleric, Hassan, in Balochistan. BVJ reported that Hassan was abducted during a raid on his home in Quetta early Thursday morning, involving more than fifty personnel from the Pakistani CTD, Frontier Corps, and Military Intelligence.

“This incident marks the 20th case of enforced disappearance affecting the Qambrani family in recent years. In January 2026 alone, 20 family members have been forcibly disappeared. While 9 individuals have been released, 11, including Hassan, remain in the custody of intelligence agencies,” BVJ highlighted.

Point of View

It is crucial to approach the ongoing human rights situation in Balochistan with a commitment to truth and justice. The issues raised by the Baloch National Movement highlight a troubling pattern of violations that cannot be ignored. As a nation, we must advocate for human rights and hold accountable those who infringe upon them.
