Hyderabad, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, declared on Thursday that construction on the newly-approved Adilabad airport is set to begin within a year.
During a public gathering in Adilabad, he stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu have pledged to provide financial and logistical assistance to ensure the airport's completion.
The Chief Minister reassured the residents that he is committed to the development of the historically underdeveloped Adilabad district.
"We aim to introduce Airbus service to Adilabad, a region where even the 'Yerra bus' (Red bus) struggles to reach," Revanth Reddy remarked.
The term 'Red bus' refers to the buses operated by the state-run Road Transport Corporation.
In addition, the Chief Minister unveiled plans to establish a new university in Adilabad, which will be named after Indravelli or Kumuram Bheem.
As part of the district's development, he emphasized the need to enhance irrigation, education, and communication facilities.
He urged citizens to elect responsible individuals as sarpanches in the upcoming gram panchayat elections.
"Avoid spending money for elections. Ideally, Sarpanchs should be chosen unanimously," he said, promising funds for village development.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticized the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for neglecting Adilabad.
"The marginalized communities ousted the former government and bestowed a significant mandate to the people's government," he stated.
He reiterated that his focus is on the development and welfare of all community members and mentioned he would only discuss politics during election time.
The Chief Minister noted that he has not taken a single day off in the last two years.
"I have had the privilege of serving as Zilla Praja Parishad Territorial Constituency, MLC, MLA, MP, and Chief Minister at a young age. I strive to earn the respect of the populace. I became Chief Minister with the support of the people of Telangana and have governed the state smoothly for the past two years," he stated.
He took aim at former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for halting the Pranahita-Chevella project, initiated at a cost of Rs 38,00 crore by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy during the united Andhra Pradesh, which was intended to provide irrigation to 16 lakh acres.
"Hundreds of crores have been spent to ensure water access in Adilabad. After the BRS assumed power, KCR abandoned the project, altering its name, village, and estimates. The BRS government invested Rs 1.50 lakh crore into the Kaleshwaram project, which failed within three years. The KCR family profited from commissions associated with the project," the Chief Minister remarked.
He stated that the state government has already issued tenders to construct a project near Tummihatti at a height of 150 meters, which is designed to provide water to Adilabad district.
He affirmed that he will soon lay the foundation stone for the project.
