The fifth edition of KIUG 2025 is taking place across seven cities in Rajasthan, featuring a remarkable participation of 4448 athletes from 222 universities competing in 23 medal disciplines. The Games are organized under the supervision of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in collaboration with the Rajasthan State Sports Council and hosted by Poornima University.
The 19-year-old Aditi, who previously won gold in all the Khelo India Youth Games she participated in, made a stunning debut at the Khelo India University Games by winning gold in the women’s compound individual event. In the individual final, Aditi triumphed over Taniparthi Chikitha from Lovely Professional University with a score of 147-143.
“The Khelo India Games have given me a platform to understand how high-level competitions operate, which has been invaluable for my international outings. My form had fluctuated in recent months, and I was eager to perform well here as I aim for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where Compound Archery will also be featured,” Aditi shared with SAI Media.
Like Aditi in archery, Jain University established itself as a dominant force in swimming. The defending champions, renowned for their elite athletes including Olympian Srihari Nataraj, claimed seven gold medals out of nine events on the final day of swimming, culminating in a total of 27 gold medals, nine silver, and nine bronze medals. Lovely Professional University follows in second place with 22 gold medals, while Guru Nanak Dev University holds third with 21 gold medals.
On the final day at the SMS Swimming pool, Olympian Srihari Nataraj shone brightly, seizing the gold in the 100m freestyle with a time of 52.30 seconds and the 50m backstroke with 26.53 seconds. He also participated with his teammates in the 400m Medley Mixed relay, concluding the Games with an impressive tally of nine golds and two silvers.
In the cycling events, Guru Nanak Dev University dominated the track, winning gold in both the men's and women's team sprints as well as the women’s team pursuit. Additionally, Barsarani Barik clinched the women’s 500m individual time trial with a record of 00:38.535 seconds, surpassing Sanjana VS from Mahatma Gandhi University.
In Bharatpur, where wrestling events are being conducted, Lovely Professional University, which had secured six gold medals over the previous two days, faced a disappointing final day, failing to secure any gold medals despite earning three silver medals. Nonetheless, they concluded the wrestling event as the most successful university, finishing with six gold medals.
Noteworthy results from Friday include local university Dr KN Modi University earning its second gold through Khushi in the women’s 68kg freestyle, following Sagar’s victory in the men’s 97kg Greco-Roman category on day two.
