Are Arunachal Youth Inspired to Join the Army as Agniveers?

Itanagar, Sep 7 (NationPress) The Indian Army, under the auspices of the Army Recruiting Office in Jorhat (Assam), successfully held the Agniveer recruitment Rally at the Gyaptong Regional Stadium in Rupa, Arunachal Pradesh, officials reported on Sunday.

Defence spokesman Lt Col Mahendra Rawat noted that the event generated a tremendous response from local youth, motivating them to wear the uniform and serve the nation with pride as Agniveers.

More than 380 aspirants from various districts of Arunachal Pradesh participated, undergoing physical fitness tests, measurement assessments, documentation, and medical evaluations in accordance with Indian Army standards.

The three-day rally, which took place from September 3-5, saw candidates from Arunachal Pradesh who had previously qualified in the online common entrance examination.

This rally was inaugurated by the Director Recruiting (North East States) and featured the esteemed presence of senior Army officials and local dignitaries who provided encouragement and support to the youth involved in the event, the spokesman added.

He emphasized that the recruitment process was executed in a transparent and fair manner, ensuring equal opportunities for all eligible candidates.

The enthusiastic backing of the local administration and military authorities facilitated the smooth and effective execution of the rally.

Lt Col Rawat mentioned that the final merit list of successful candidates would be released in due course, following the completion of all recruitment stages.

The Indian Army expresses its gratitude to the people and administration of Arunachal Pradesh for their cooperation and congratulates all aspirants who participated with enthusiasm and resolve, the spokesman remarked.

In a related occasion, the annual worship of the 500-year-old Chandan tree took place on Sunday in the scenic Lhalung village in Menchuka Valley, Shi-Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh, marked by deep devotion and cultural celebration.

The revered tree holds significant importance for the local Buddhist community, symbolizing faith and the region's rich heritage.

The defence spokesman stated that monks from local monasteries, along with numerous devotees, gathered to offer prayers, light lamps, and perform rituals seeking peace, prosperity, and collective well-being. Village elders recounted legends and historical narratives connected to the tree, imparting valuable cultural wisdom to the younger generation and reinforcing community spiritual ties.

Troops assisted in organizing the event, ensuring seamless arrangements for the gathering. The Army remains actively involved in the preservation of this historic site through year-round stewardship, cleanliness initiatives, and maintenance of pathways leading to the sacred tree.

The engagement of local military authorities reflects the robust connection between the armed forces and the local population. Such initiatives not only protect cultural and religious traditions but also fortify the spirit of civil-military harmony in remote border territories.
