New Delhi, Feb 25 (NationPress) General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), emphasized the significance of joint force projection. During a seminar on Tuesday, he articulated that the integration of air and naval power is vital for protecting national interests and ensuring deterrence in the region.
He elaborated on how technological advancements, strategic partnerships, and joint operational exercises will be fundamental in bolstering India’s defense capabilities.
While addressing the seminar, the CDS highlighted the essential requirement for preparedness and vigilance in the shifting global security landscape.
He pointed out that India’s distinctive geographic position in the Indian Ocean Region renders the maritime domain a crucial area of strategic importance. Emphasizing the necessity for joint force projection, he reiterated that the integration of air and naval power is indispensable for safeguarding national interests and ensuring deterrence in the region.

The Southern Air Command, in collaboration with the Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS), organized this seminar titled ”Synergising Air and Naval Forces: Enhancing Combat Power in the Indian Ocean Region” on Tuesday.
General Anil Chauhan was the Chief Guest at the seminar, accompanied by Air Marshal SP Dharkar, Vice Chief of the Air Staff.
During the seminar, Air Marshal SP Dharkar emphasized the significance of real-time intelligence sharing and seamless coordination between the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force to counter emerging threats in the region.
The seminar included two sessions that convened senior officers, both serving and retired, from Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Headquarters Southern Air Command, Indian Army, Indian Navy, and CAPS.
According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), participants engaged in discussions about synergizing maritime air operations and enhancing combat capabilities, providing valuable insights on strengthening joint operational capacities.
The discussions covered modern air-sea battle strategies, the role of unmanned systems in maritime security, and the influence of evolving geopolitical dynamics on defense preparedness.
Experts also shared recommendations on optimizing force readiness and resource allocation to maintain a strategic edge in the IOR.
The MoD stated that the event reaffirmed the commitment of the Indian Armed Forces to promote inter-service cooperation and advance India’s strategic position in the Indian Ocean Region.
