Did Akhilesh Yadav Accuse BJP of Extortion Over Rs 8 Lakh Challan?

Lucknow, Sep 5 (NationPress) Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), accused the BJP government on Friday of engaging in extortion and neglecting essential public services.

During a press conference held at the SP headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav asserted that a challan amounting to Rs 8 lakh for alleged over-speeding was issued against his vehicle on the Agra Expressway.

“The vehicle provided by the government is in poor condition, yet they impose such a hefty fine. The police are openly soliciting bribes, and the entire administrative system appears to be under the control of the BJP,” he claimed.

Commenting on the recent police action against ABVP workers, he expressed that the video footage of the incident was distressing, describing it as a conflict between the “student council and the Vahini.”

Yadav intensified his criticism of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating, “He occupies his position by infringing upon the rights of countless individuals, despite not being a member of the BJP.”

He also recalled a past remark from BJP MLA Ketakee Singh, branding him a “tap thief.” “My home was cleansed with Ganga water due to that accusation. The BJP may have forgotten, but I will not,” he remarked. He held CM advisor Awanish Awasthi accountable for a previous sting operation, insisting, “I will never forget it.”

In response to protests at the residence of Om Prakash Rajbhar and comments from Sanjay Nishad about dissolving their alliance, Yadav stated, “I do not wish to dignify such remarks with a response. If they have any self-respect, they should contemplate their words. He should consider taking over the PWD department instead of Panchayati Raj,” he added.

Proclaiming that the “countdown for the government has begun,” the SP leader indicated that only 493 days remain until elections. “This time, we will ensure that the BJP’s vote share does not increase. They manipulate the Election Commission, which has now become a ‘Jugaad Commission’,” he alleged.

Critiquing the government’s performance on employment, Yadav remarked, “Job creation is not part of the BJP’s agenda. Otherwise, candidates for the 69,000 teacher recruitment would not be protesting, and schools wouldn’t be closing down.”

On Teachers’ Day, he paid homage to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, asserting that a future Samajwadi government would prioritize quality education and job opportunities. “This government is undermining teachers, education, and society. They do not desire an educated populace,” he declared.

Addressing recent changes to the GST, Yadav suggested they were motivated solely by electoral considerations. “Profiteering has not diminished. Trump’s tariffs have silenced the BJP, while those promoting Make in India inundate markets with Chinese products. This approach will jeopardize the One District, One Product initiative,” he cautioned.
