Akhilesh Yadav Labels PM Modi's '11 Sankalp' as Yet Another Set of Jumlas

New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) Samajwadi Party chief and ex-Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav criticized the 11 duties and pledges presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his extensive over 100-minute address in Parliament, referring to them as "11 Jumlas".

During his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized his government's welfare initiatives and outlined 11 commitments for the populace, including a zero tolerance approach towards corruption and a commitment to dismantling the dynastic political structure, all aimed at realizing a Developed India by 2047.

While participating in the second day of discussions on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution's adoption, PM Modi criticized the damage inflicted on the Constitution's essence by dynastic politics, pledging to engage at least one lakh youth without political backgrounds in politics to infuse the nation with "fresh energy".

Speaking with reporters outside the Parliament, Akhilesh Yadav remarked, "The Prime Minister's speech was excessively long. We were treated to '11 Jumlas Sankalp'. The promise of Rs 15 lakh was a Jumla. Doubling farmers' income was another Jumla. The commitment to create one crore jobs was also a Jumla. The Agniveer scheme turned out to be a Jumla. The GST's potential to alleviate inflation was yet another Jumla."

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh further stated that the BJP's claims regarding dynastic politics also seem to be a Jumla, as they are not entirely removed from it.

He expressed, "The BJP asserts it is providing reservations... but the reality is they are stripping away reservations for Backward, Dalit, and Adivasi communities. We are currently advocating for the Caste Census. The day will come when the Caste Census is conducted and reservations will be allocated accordingly.

"Three more Jumlas remain. You will discover them in due course. This government will continue to mislead the public in this manner," he added.

Earlier, PM Modi stated in Parliament: “It is our constitutional obligation to liberate the nation from dynastic politics.”

He underscored that the comprehensive implementation of all government welfare schemes reflects true social justice and secularism, asserting that the duties and responsibilities of citizens embody the essence of our civilization.

He proclaimed that the spirit of the Constitution, as embodied in the phrase “We the people,” serves as the foundation for the mantra of ‘Sab ka Vikas’.

In the 75th year of Independence, our dedication to the Constitution must be reinforced, and our duties should guide us towards becoming a “Shreshtha Bharat”, he remarked.

For the country's future and drawing inspiration from the Constitution's spirit, he proceeded to outline 11 Sankalp (duties or pledges for citizens).

Among the 11 duties proposed by him were obligations for both citizens and the government to uphold their responsibilities, ensuring equitable development for all segments of society or ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ maintaining a zero tolerance stance towards corruption, and socially ostracizing corrupt individuals.

Further detailing the duties, he stated that everyone should take pride in adhering to laws and regulations, valuing the nation's heritage, and shedding the colonial mindset.

Targeting the Congress party, the Prime Minister articulated the sixth pledge of liberating the nation from the dynastic system.

The seventh pledge also targeted Congress, whose leaders, including the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, carry copies of the Constitution as political props. “The seventh duty is to respect the Constitution and prohibit its use as a means for political advantage,” he stated.

Opposition to religion-based reservations and a firm stance against the removal of quotas was the PM’s eighth pledge.

Promoting women-led development and fostering nation-building through state building were his ninth and tenth Sankalp.

PM Modi concluded with the 11th pledge that “Ek Bharat, Shreshta Bharat” should serve as the guiding principle for all.
