Etawah (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 10 (NationPress) On the third death anniversary of the Samajwadi Party's founder and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav, party leader Akhilesh Yadav pledged to defend the honour and respect of the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpasankhyak).
The entire Yadav family assembled at Mulayam Singh’s Samadhi in Saifai on Friday to pay homage to the esteemed socialist leader who passed away on this day in 2022 in a hospital located in Gurugram.
Akhilesh Yadav, along with senior leaders and party members, laid floral tributes and committed to uphold his father's principles.
"We unite to honour Netaji on his death anniversary and promise to adhere to the path he carved to safeguard the Constitution," he stated.
"Socialists regard the Constitution as our Sanjeevani (life-giving elixir), and it is our duty to protect it. We, the PDA, stand united—we will advocate for its honour and dignity," he added.
The SP leader emphasized that Mulayam Singh's lifelong battle was aimed at uplifting the oppressed, backward, exploited, deprived, farmers, poor, labourers, and minorities. "He worked relentlessly to earn them respect. We will carry on his legacy," he continued.
He affirmed that "soldiers, farmers, Dalits, and minorities collectively fortified socialism and secularism", promising to establish a PDA government that guarantees rights and dignity for these communities.
Accusing the current administration of plotting to "undermine the Constitution," Akhilesh Yadav, a former Chief Minister of UP, remarked: "They are concocting numerous schemes to abolish reservations. But we will stand against such actions. Remembering Netaji today, we vow to defeat these forces indefinitely."
Earlier, senior SP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav remarked: "Netaji provided opportunities to those who were unaware of the paths to Delhi or Lucknow, elevating them to the positions of MPs and MLAs. In 2027, we aim to displace the current government."
Party Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman noted that Mulayam Singh’s most significant accomplishment was the establishment of the Samajwadi Party in 1992.
"As long as poverty, unemployment, and public issues persist, the SP movement will remain pertinent," he stated.
Among the attendees at the Saifai gathering were Shivpal Singh Yadav, Dharmendra Yadav, and Dimple Yadav, along with various family members and party supporters.
Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid his respects to Mulayam Singh.
"A humble tribute to former Defence Minister, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Padma Vibhushan awardee Mulayam Singh Yadav on his death anniversary," the Chief Minister posted on X.
