Los Angeles, June 26 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Amanda Seyfried is reflecting on her numerous auditions for ‘Wicked’. During a recent episode of Backstage’s ‘In the Envelope’ podcast, the ‘Long Bright River’ star, aged 39, shared her experience of auditioning multiple times for movie musicals.
The Oscar-nominated actress revealed that she auditioned six times for her part as Cosette in the 2012 film adaptation of Les Miserables. Remarkably, she mentioned she went through the same number of auditions for ‘Wicked’, according to ‘People’ magazine.
“I’m in that fortunate position where I usually don’t have to (audition),” she stated, “But I’ve talked about this frequently. I auditioned six times for ‘Wicked’ because it had to be absolutely perfect for me, and I adored it.”
“I was quite busy. I hardly had time to manage it, but I ensured it happened. I dedicated years to practicing that music. I have a competitive edge,” she remarked. “With myself, in a very healthy manner.”
According to ‘People’, this isn’t the first occasion the Emmy-winning actress has discussed her audition journey for ‘Wicked’. In a March episode of the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, she mentioned singing alongside Cynthia Erivo while auditioning for the role of Glinda.
“I was thoroughly prepared, and I must say, I’ve never felt as confident in my voice as I did during those auditions. That’s the takeaway I had from it,” Seyfried told host Josh Horowitz. “I truly believe everything happens for a reason.”
She added that her household “sings ‘Defying Gravity’ daily,” despite not securing the role of Glinda.
“I also had the chance to sing with Cynthia, and that was a notable moment,” Seyfried shared. The role was ultimately filled by Ariana Grande. Both the singer and Erivo received nominations for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress at the Oscars.
