Amanda Seyfried Clarifies the Story Behind Her Viral Singing Video from 'Wicked'

Los Angeles, Dec 14 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Amanda Seyfried is here to clarify some misconceptions. The 39-year-old actress recently discussed a clip in which she appeared to be singing.
She attended an event in Beverly Hills, California, where she took the opportunity to address the buzz surrounding a video of her performing the song 'Popular' from the musical 'Wicked' while dressed in a shimmering princess outfit, according to 'People' magazine.
Seyfried specifically rebutted the speculation that it was an audition tape for the role of Glinda in the upcoming 2024 film adaptation.
She told 'People', “I believe it was during the Covid-19 pandemic. I was doing a Lancome photoshoot in Long Island City. My stylist was Elizabeth Stewart.”
She added, “I hadn’t auditioned for 'Wicked' at that point, but I knew it was in the works. I was just having fun and thought, ‘This dress feels so Glinda.’ Elizabeth encouraged me to go for it, and eventually, she shared it online.”
According to 'People', while Seyfried expressed her fondness for her stylist, she mentioned, “perhaps it would have been better if it hadn’t been shared,” as it was simply a lighthearted behind-the-scenes moment from her Lancome shoot.
Nevertheless, the 'Les Miserables' star acknowledged that although the clip was made in jest, she did subsequently audition for the role of Glinda, which ultimately went to Ariana Grande.
She remarked, “I was very dedicated to that process. It took a long time. Everything unfolds as it should. It’s a grand performance, which is Ariana’s specialty. My kids are playing the soundtrack on repeat, and I believe it all happens for a reason.”
Seyfried also revealed that she is currently gearing up for her next project, a thriller-mystery titled The Housemaid, based on the 2022 novel of the same name, where she will star alongside Sydney Sweeney. This role required her to lighten her hair color.
“I was thrilled because I felt rather mundane. I needed a transformation. So I thought, you know what? This will be the film where I try something new,” she shared. She also mentioned that this new appearance “really assists in getting into character.”
