In a joint post, the two celebrated artists displayed a series of images from the prayer meeting held for Jawanda, who tragically passed away at the age of 35 on October 8.
The caption in Punjabi read: “Farewell, my friend… With a distinctive charm — a tall 6-foot stature, ghungroos in his hands, and jutti on his feet. He has departed with countless prayers and immense love. The pride of the people is no longer with us; our beloved friend has left this world.”
Renowned for his captivating voice, Jawanda succumbed after a long battle for life in a private hospital, following a severe road accident in Himachal Pradesh. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
Jawanda sustained critical injuries on September 27 while traveling towards Shimla near Baddi in the Solan district, resulting in severe head and spinal trauma. He was on life support upon his admission.
Medical professionals indicated that Jawanda's neurological state was dire, showing minimal brain activity and no significant progress despite intensive care.
His condition was labeled as “extremely critical” shortly after the accident. Initially, he was taken to a local hospital in Solan, where he suffered a cardiac arrest before being transferred to a private facility in Mohali.
Jawanda's popular tracks include 'Surname', 'Kamla', 'Mera Dil', and 'Sardari'. He also made significant contributions to Punjabi cinema through roles in films like 'Jind Jaan', 'Mindo Taseeldarni', and 'Kaka Ji'.
On another note, Ammy will soon appear in “Godday Godday Chaa 2,” which is set to release during Diwali.
Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film revolves around a vibrant Punjabi village where women take the lead in traditional wedding customs, igniting a humorous showdown as both sides invent clever and elaborate schemes to outwit one another. The film also features Gurpreet Bhangu and Gitaj Bindrakhia.
