Chandigarh, Oct 8 (NationPress) Renowned Punjabi artist Rajvir Jawanda, celebrated for his captivating melodies, tragically passed away on Wednesday after a prolonged battle for survival in a private hospital nearby. This followed a devastating road accident in Himachal Pradesh that left him critically injured for 11 days.
At the young age of 35, he is survived by his wife and two children.
Jawanda sustained severe head and spinal injuries while traveling to Shimla on September 27, near Baddi in the Solan district.
He remained on life support from the moment of his admission.
Medical professionals reported that Jawanda's neurological state was precarious, with minimal brain activity and no significant progress despite intensive treatment.
Following the accident, his condition was labeled as “extremely critical”. Initially taken to a hospital in Solan, he suffered a cardiac arrest before being moved to a private facility in Mohali in a dire state.
A resident of Sector 71, Mohali, Jawanda's popular tracks included 'Surname', 'Kamla', 'Mera Dil', and 'Sardari'.
He also made significant contributions to Punjabi cinema, appearing in films such as 'Jind Jaan', 'Mindo Taseeldarni', and 'Kaka Ji'.
Beginning his musical career in 2014 with the single 'Munda Like Me', Jawanda quickly gained recognition for his heartfelt voice and poignant lyrics.
Expressing sorrow over the loss, Punjab Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Warring stated on X, “We all prayed for his speedy recovery but sadly god had other plans. My heart goes out to his family, friends and fans who are shattered with this tragic loss.
