Amaravati, July 18 (NationPress) Andhra Pradesh is set to spearhead India’s transition to clean energy by creating a Green Hydrogen Valley, announced Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday.
He emphasized that the state, through its Integrated Clean Energy Policy, has cultivated an environment aimed at attracting ₹10 lakh crore in green investments and generating 7.5 lakh job opportunities.
During the Green Hydrogen Summit held at SRM University, Amaravati, the Chief Minister revealed that the state government has rolled out an extensive incentive package to promote the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives.
Two significant clean energy MoUs were signed at the Green Hydrogen Summit, totaling Rs 51,000 crore. Yamna from the UK, represented by Gal Bogin, plans to establish a 1 MMTPA Green Ammonia project at Krishnapatnam with an investment of Rs 16,000 crore.
Additionally, JKSH and Hynfrawill will invest Rs 35,000 crore in a project at Machilipatnam, which includes 150 KTPA Green Hydrogen and 600 KTPA Green Ammonia. Collectively, these projects are expected to create over 10,500 green jobs. The MoUs were facilitated by NREDCAP and the AP Energy Department.
The Chief Minister asserted that Andhra Pradesh possesses numerous advantages for the clean energy revolution, such as a vast coastline and a robust logistics network for exports.
He called upon industrialists, scientists, policymakers, researchers, and innovators worldwide to collaborate with the government in transforming Andhra Pradesh into a global hub for hydrogen innovation.
“We are witnessing strong investor interest and large-scale projects emerging throughout the state. Green hydrogen is an idea whose time has arrived. Investing in clean energy, like green hydrogen, means investing in a cleaner, safer future for our planet,” he stated.
“I am here to learn and adopt innovations that lower energy costs and promote green energy to address global warming. Based on your suggestions, we will work towards making Andhra Pradesh, India’s Hydrogen Valley by integrating technology, infrastructure, and innovation,” he added.
Chandrababu Naidu commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visionary leadership in India's clean energy transition, noting that the country is well-positioned to become a global leader in green hydrogen.
The CM highlighted the crucial need for synergy between the government, technological infrastructure, and industry stakeholders. “We want India to demonstrate to the world that clean energy can be both scalable and profitable.
“Through clean hydrogen and its derivatives, we aim for decarbonization. We will also engage in discussions regarding the circular economy, water recycling, and energy recovery. In this sector, Andhra Pradesh aspires to take a significant role. We have advantages like solar, wind, pumped energy, and a lengthy coastline with port facilities that can be utilized for exporting green hydrogen and ammonia,” he remarked.
Chandrababu Naidu noted that the Integrated Clean Energy Policy aims to generate 1.5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen and its derivatives per year, alongside a 3 GW capacity for electrolyser manufacturing, in conjunction with solar, wind, and pumped energy storage. He cited the ambitious targets of the National Hydrogen Mission, which aims for 5 MMT of non-fossil fuel energy by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070, asserting Andhra Pradesh’s readiness to assume a leading role.
