Anil Vij Announces February Launch for Ambala Cant Airport

Chandigarh, Jan 11 (NationPress) Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij stated on Saturday that the Ambala Cantonment domestic airport represents a remarkable achievement for the region and is scheduled to be operational by February.

He mentioned that this airport will significantly improve connectivity for Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. Furthermore, it will accommodate large aircraft and function effectively under all weather conditions.

During his visit to inspect the airport, Vij reported that nearly all preparations for the domestic facility are finalized. He engaged in discussions with the Superintendent Engineer and assessed the security measures in place.

He was updated that security equipment is set to arrive shortly for installation at entry points and other specified locations. The minister directed officials to meticulously level and clean the area to improve the airport's overall appearance.

Speaking to journalists, Vij stressed that the domestic airport at Ambala Cantonment will offer substantial benefits to the community. He pointed out that Ambala is a historic railway junction linking various states, and the new airport will enhance its importance and beautify the cantonment.

He disclosed that he had conversations with the Union Civil Aviation Minister in Delhi, which expedited the airport's development.

Initially, it was planned for central police forces to be deployed at the airport, but he advocated for the presence of Haryana Police instead.

“Police personnel have been trained, and strong security protocols are in place. The assignment of airport staff will also be voluntary,” remarked the former state Home Minister.

Vij also mentioned that the state government has reached agreements with airlines for flights connecting Ambala and Hisar. He called for the inclusion of prominent airlines such as Air India and IndiGo to facilitate flights to other states.

He assured that the airport is equipped to handle large aircraft and operate in all weather scenarios. Among those present during the inspection were Superintendent Engineer Harpal Singh and Executive Engineer Ritesh Aggarwal.
