Another Suspect Detained in Fake Passport Scheme in Bengal, Total Arrests Reach 6

Kolkata, Dec 25 (NationPress) The West Bengal Police have taken into custody one more individual related to the operation of providing fake Indian passports for Bangladeshi infiltrators entering Indian territory through the state's vulnerable borders, which include both land and coastal routes.
The individual, identified as Mokhtar Alam, was apprehended at his residence located in Duttapukur within the North 24 Parganas district.
A range of incriminating materials, such as fake PAN cards and bank ATM cards, were confiscated from his possession.
With the arrest of Alam, the cumulative total of apprehensions related to the counterfeit passport operations in various areas of the state over the last ten days has reached six.
A senior police official indicated that investigators learned about Alam’s participation in the scheme through interrogations of the five individuals apprehended previously in connection with the fake passport operation.
Alam has a history of criminal activities and has faced multiple arrests due to his involvement in illegal and anti-social conduct. Investigators anticipate obtaining further details about additional participants in the racket by questioning him.
They have recognized a distinct pattern in the operations of such schemes that facilitate the creation of fake Indian passports for Bangladeshi infiltrators. Any infiltrator who illegally crosses into Indian territory contacts local agents and expresses a willingness to pay substantial sums for obtaining counterfeit Indian identity documents. Initially, these infiltrators are provided with safe accommodations in various villages near the borders with Bangladesh in the state.
Subsequently, the agents first secure fake ration cards for them, which serve as the initial step in producing other identity documents. With these, additional identification papers such as EPIC, PAN, and Aadhaar cards are arranged. The final step involves obtaining the fake passports based on the other counterfeit identity documents.
