West Bengal Police Uncovers Details of Bangladeshi Agents Linked to Passport Racket Mastermind

Kolkata, Dec 21 (NationPress) The West Bengal Police, while investigating the counterfeit passport syndicate in the state, reported having acquired precise details about its mastermind Samaresh Biswa and his network of Bangladeshi operatives.

According to sources, Biswa, who was apprehended recently, utilized the assistance of individuals from various villages near West Bengal's international borders with Bangladesh and the South Asian nation.

The initial findings of the investigation reveal that the agents' network, functioning from Bangladesh, was responsible for facilitating a secure yet illegal entry into Indian territory via the West Bengal border. Following this, the network in the bordering villages on the West Bengal side took over, with their primary task being to provide safe havens for these infiltrators, particularly in villages adjacent to both land and coastal international borders.

Subsequently, based on agreements made, arrangements were established for fake Indian identity documentation, beginning with ration cards, followed by EPIC, PAN, AADHAAR cards, and ultimately passports.

During the interrogation, it was reported that an individual recently detained in connection with the fake passport operations admitted that the total cost for each infiltrator ranged from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.

In total, five individuals have been arrested in West Bengal related to the fake passport operation. Among those apprehended, two individuals named Dipankar Das and Deepak Mondal were employed as contractual personnel at Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs).

Moreover, sources indicated that a segment of the POPSK staff, along with several public distribution system (PDS) dealers in the state, are also suspected of being involved in these scams, primarily tasked with providing fake ration cards for the infiltrators, which were then used to obtain other counterfeit identity documents.
