Mumbai, April 3 (NationPress) Authorities have uncovered a significant stash of unlawful firearms and counterfeit currency at a secretive site in Dombivli, located within Maharashtra's Thane district. A 55-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with this operation, as confirmed by officials on Thursday.
The suspect, identified as Surendra Pandurang Patil, was detained by the Kalyan Unit-3 of the Thane Crime Branch following a tip-off received by the police.
The raid took place in the Davdi area of Dombivli East, where it is alleged that the suspect constructed a hidden compartment within a residential structure to conceal the weapons.
Authorities stated that the concealed area was situated on the rooftop of a five-storey building and was accessible via a lift shaft. The stash was cleverly camouflaged behind a slipper rack within a specially crafted cavity.
During the operation, police confiscated three homemade pistols, one revolver, seven country-made firearms (kattas), 405 live cartridges, and 167 pellets.
