New Delhi, July 27 (NationPress) The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has made a commendable decision to incorporate ‘Operation Sindoor’ into school textbooks, receiving widespread acclaim from retired military personnel. They view this initiative as a significant step toward fostering patriotism and enhancing awareness regarding national security among the youth.
Colonel Rajiv Khakera (Retd.), associated with the Army's Core of Air Defence, expressed profound pride in this inclusion. He stated, “We witnessed the Army's exceptional execution of precise gunfire and missile systems during Operation Sindoor. It's truly gratifying that every child in our nation will now learn about this heroic chapter, which can inspire many to consider a career in the Army,” he told IANS on Sunday.
Echoing these sentiments, Lt. Colonel Kapil Dutt (Retd.) described NCERT's decision as “very good.” He added, “This knowledge will greatly encourage young students. Understanding the details of Operation Sindoor will instill a sense of service and motivate many to pursue careers in the armed forces.”
Regarded as a pivotal counter-terrorism initiative, Operation Sindoor has become a cornerstone of India’s internal security framework. Veterans believe that embedding this legacy within school curricula will safeguard the memory of those who exhibited valor for future generations.
General P.S. Malhotra (Retd.) welcomed this initiative while praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s outreach efforts, including ‘Mann Ki Baat’. “I hope 'Mann Ki Baat' extends well beyond 200 episodes. The Prime Minister genuinely connects with the populace. The decision to add Operation Sindoor to NCERT textbooks reinforces our national identity,” he remarked.
Wing Commander Praful Bakshi (Retd.) emphasized the symbolic significance of the operation. “It is vital for schoolchildren, college students, and the public to grasp the impact of Operation Sindoor. It has evolved into a symbol marking the onset of the end of terrorism in India.”
NCERT's decision is set to take effect in the forthcoming academic year, reflecting a larger movement to weave military history and national pride into India’s educational framework.
