Mumbai, Aug 12 (NationPress) Veteran actress Asha Parekh, famed for her roles in ‘Teesri Manzil’, ‘Upkar’, ‘Kati Patang’, and ‘Nadaan’, is passionately advocating for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative.

On Tuesday, she shared a heartfelt post on her Instagram, showcasing a picture of herself holding the tri-colour with pride. In her caption, she encouraged her followers to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

She expressed, “As our nation gears up for Independence Day, let’s unite to promote the Har Ghar Tiranga spirit. Become a Tiranga Volunteer and display the Tricolour at your home from August 11th to 15th. Share your Tiranga selfies at harghartiranga.com #HarGharTiranga #LoveMyCountry #AzaadiKaAmritMahotsav #JaiHind.”

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative, introduced by the Government of India in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, encourages citizens to raise the National Flag at their residences and foster a personal bond with the Tiranga.

Previously, Asha shared a memorable photo from her trip to Australia, featuring her against the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge at night. Notably, her niece, Mubina Patanwala, has been associated with the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia.

Asha Parekh began her acting career as a child artist in ‘Maa’, after director Bimal Roy noticed her dance performance. She later appeared in ‘Baap Beti’. Although the film didn’t succeed, she momentarily stepped back to focus on her education after a few more child roles.

Determined to make a comeback, she returned to the industry in her teens, making her lead debut with ‘Dil Deke Dekho’ in 1959. Asha then solidified her status as a leading actress during the 1960s and 1970s. She is celebrated as one of Hindi cinema’s most esteemed actresses, with over 85 films in a career spanning more than four decades.

In recognition of her contributions to cinema, she received the Padma Shri from the Government of India in 1992 and was honored with the esteemed Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2020.
