Patna, July 7 (NationPress) On Monday, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw undertook an unexpected inspection of multiple railway stations across Bihar, assessing the advancement of development projects under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The inspection, which commenced in Patna, included stations in Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, and Sonpur divisions.
Accompanying the minister were the General Manager of East Central Railway, the DRM of Sonpur Division, and BJP MP from Darbhanga, Gopal Ji Thakur.
Vaishnaw began his visit at Hajipur Junction before proceeding to Karpurigram station in Samastipur district, following an inspection at Digha Ghat railway station.
At Digha Ghat, officials had set up a wooden ladder for boarding, but the minister dismissed this setup and personally examined the coach.
During his visit to Karpurigram station, Vaishnaw honored the statue of Jananayak Karpuri Thakur and initiated the foundation stone for the station's redevelopment along with a road underbridge.
“We have laid the foundation stones for crucial projects such as ROBs, station redevelopment, and other initiatives,” the Railway Minister remarked.
Additionally, Vaishnaw carried out a field inspection of passenger amenities and surrounding areas to gauge the actual conditions and ongoing infrastructural improvements.
In light of the minister's visit, security and vigilance measures were heightened across all junctions.
This visit is considered significant in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled trip to Bihar on July 18.
Previously, on May 23 this year, Ashwini Vaishnaw had visited the historic Jamalpur Rail Factory, announcing a substantial development initiative worth Rs 350 crore in the first phase to transform the facility into a Centre of Excellence.
He inspected ongoing redevelopment works at the station under the Amrit Bharat Yojana and later visited the factory, where he officially handed over an iconic 140-tonne crane to Indian Railways.
Moreover, Vaishnaw laid the foundation stone for a Rs 78.96 crore project aimed at boosting the capacity for wagon Periodic Overhaul (POH) in Jamalpur.
