Mumbai, Feb 27 (NationPress) Union Minister Ramdas Athawale criticized Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Uddhav Thackeray, chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), for their absence at the Maha Kumbh. His remarks questioned their identification with the Hindu faith.
Athawale stated that their non-attendance at this significant religious event reflected a lack of adherence to Hindu traditions and urged voters to reconsider their support in the forthcoming elections.
The Maha Kumbh, a grand spiritual gathering lasting 45 days, concluded on February 26, attracting Naga Sadhus, saints, and millions of devotees from around India and beyond, all seeking to take a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. This event also saw numerous politicians and celebrities arriving to seek divine blessings.
Both Rahul Gandhi and his ally from the INDIA bloc, Uddhav Thackeray, chose to miss this important Hindu occasion.
In response, Athawale remarked to IANS, "Rahul Gandhi and Uddhav Thackeray did not attend the Kumbh. Are they Hindus or not? If they were, they would have been present at the Maha Kumbh. Their absence demonstrates a lack of belief in Hinduism."
He emphasized that this situation was yet another reason for Hindu voters to withdraw their support. "The public will surely teach them a lesson," he asserted.
Athawale stressed that the Maha Kumbh was not merely about Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath but was an event for the entire Hindu community.
He also indicated that the political prospects for both Gandhi and Thackeray were already in decline, and their absence from such a pivotal religious gathering would further hurt their public image.
"The public has already sidelined them, and after this, their political situation will not improve," Athawale concluded.
