Lucknow, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, criticized the opposition party, Samajwadi Party (SP), for its alleged efforts to tarnish the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj through unfounded and misleading assertions.

During his address to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on its second day, Yogi Adityanath strongly countered the opposition's claims regarding the Mahakumbh, asserting that it is not merely a government or party event, but a celebration that belongs to society as a whole.

The Chief Minister pointed out that while discussions were ongoing in the House, over 56.25 crore devotees had already immersed themselves in the holy waters of Triveni Sangam.

He condemned the opposition's supposed efforts to propagate falsehoods through misleading videos aimed at Sanatan Dharma, the Ganga, the Hindu faith, and the Mahakumbh.

“Such behaviors are not merely an assault on Sanatan beliefs, but a blatant affront to the faith of 56 crore devotees and the spiritual fabric of India,” declared CM Yogi in the assembly.

He further articulated: “The Mahakumbh is not affiliated with any specific party or administration; it is a grand societal festivity.”

He emphasized that the government's role is that of a humble facilitator, committed to discharging its duties with utmost integrity.

“We perceive ourselves as humble servants entrusted with this honor, and we will fulfill this duty with complete dedication. Our profound respect for India's eternal traditions necessitates that we uphold and honor them,” he asserted.

Expressing his pride in the government's association with this century's Mahakumbh, the Chief Minister noted that despite negative propaganda, both the nation and the world have welcomed the event, marking it as an unprecedented success.

He also recognized Assembly member Manoj Pandey for raising concerns about misinformation.

The Chief Minister pointed out how there were intentional efforts to spread false information by wrongly connecting incidents in Cairo, Nepal, Jharkhand, and other locations to the Mahakumbh, questioning the motives behind such misleading narratives.

He took a lighthearted jab at the Leader of Opposition, stating: “I do not mock your opposition because I understand your tendencies.”

“It is commonly believed that today’s Samajwadis betray the very system that supports them,” he added with a quip.
