Ranked 25th globally, Shetty faced a challenging start, falling behind in the first game with a score of 10-21. Originating from the quaint town of Sanoor near Karkala in Karnataka, Ayush was introduced to badminton at the age of eight by his father, who nurtured his talent in their backyard. Under the mentorship of esteemed coaches at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, Shetty honed his skills, agility, and attacking game, quickly emerging as one of India’s brightest prospects.

His breakthrough occurred last year when he clinched the US Open title, defeating Brian Yang in straight sets, thus becoming the first Indian to secure a BWF World Tour title in 2025.
